The current work by Anastasia is a critique and exploration of contemporary constructs. These constructs may be concrete depictions of real spaces or abstractions and manipulations of the built environment. These painted and rendered areas seek to express the human emotion that surrounds and is within these spaces.
Like many large cities, the cityscapes of Seattle present a disparity of wealth, gentrification, and a story of economics and oppression. The work addresses seek to tap into feelings of isolation, identity, and contemporary anxieties. By using digital and traditional oil media, the idea of space, home, and meaning is depicted and manipulated in ways that blur the lines between past and present, the real.
Anastasia received her Bachelors's of visual arts at Emily Carr University in Vancouver and the Royal Swedish Academy of fine arts. After her art studies, she received a BA in anthropology. Anastasia has participated in group shows in Canada, Belgium, Sweden, and the United States she currently resides in Seattle, Washington where art is her main focus and passion.
